Staying True to God’s Word

Bible Study: Staying True to God’s Word – Lessons from Paul’s Letter to the Corinthians

Scripture Focus: 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1

"Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? Therefore, come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." (2 Corinthians 6:14-17, NIV)

Introduction:
In Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, he addresses a church struggling with worldly influences and moral compromise. Society pressures believers to conform to its standards, which often conflicts with God’s holy commands. Paul reminds us to hold fast to the truth of the Bible rather than bending to political correctness or societal desires.

Key Points:

  1. Be Distinct in Your Conduct
Paul urges believers to separate themselves from practices and partnerships that contradict the holiness God calls us to. The world glorifies sin and blends moral lines, but as Christians, we are called to be set apart.

  2. Guard Against Compromise
It can be tempting to soften biblical truths to fit in or avoid offense. However, Paul warns that true fellowship cannot exist between righteousness and wickedness. Remaining faithful means standing firm even when it’s unpopular or misunderstood.

  3. Pursue Purity and Holiness
The call to "touch no unclean thing" challenges us to actively reject sin and impurity. This requires ongoing self-examination and a heart devoted to God’s standards—not society’s shifting values.

Reflection Questions:

  • In what areas of your life might you be influenced by society’s values rather than God’s Word?

  • How can you strengthen your commitment to biblical truth in a world that often contradicts it?

  • What practical steps can you take this week to step away from worldly ways and pursue holiness?

Closing Prayer:
Lord, help us to stay grounded in Your Word and not be swayed by the ever-changing desires of the world. Give us courage to live obediently and faithfully, reflecting Your light in all we do. Amen.

Let this study remind us that God's truth does not change, and we are called to live boldly and faithfully according to His holy standards.
