Are We Living Ready?

Held Together by the Word - A continuation of “Ready or Not: The Signs Are Fulfilled.”

In a world of shaking, what holds us steady is not circumstance, but the Word of God. We listened to the words of Charles Spurgeon, who once said, “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” A Bible with worn pages, scribbled notes, and tear-stained margins tells the story of someone who turned to God not just in sorrow, but in celebration. That’s important!

As we know, all the signs have been fulfilled; Christ can come back at any moment. If we are living in the Word, using our Bibles, studying Scripture, and living out our lives the way He has instructed, we should be ready and rejoicing at this wonderful event to come. Jesus tells us in Matthew to stay alert: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

So how do we remain ready?

Begin each day with Scripture and prayer. Not because you have to, but because you get to. When we start our day with the Word, we’re not just reading; we’re realigning. We are setting up our day. We’re saying, “Lord, lead me today. Speak to me. Keep me awake to Your presence.”

We need to live expectantly. Let your life reflect the hope of Christ’s return. This isn’t just about waiting; it’s about witnessing. When we live expectantly, we forgive quickly, love deeply, and serve faithfully.

Living expectantly means we don’t just believe Jesus is coming; we let that belief shape how we treat others, how we spend our time, and how we carry ourselves in the world.
