Satan is a PAIN!

Let me tell you, just because I’m a pastor doesn’t mean my life is easier than anyone else’s. These past two days, satan has been working on me. (And NO…I refuse to capitalize his name because he doesn’t deserve it.)

I’ve been short-tempered, discouraged, spiritually foggy and I couldn’t even stand being around myself. It seemed the more I tried to tackle projects, the worse things got and the madder I became. Then I let that attitude spill over into everything else I needed to get done.

I wish I could say I caught it early. That I paused, prayed, and reset. But I didn’t. I let it simmer. I let it spill. And before I knew it, my frustration had fingerprints on everything; my work, my words, even my worship.

And here’s the part that stings: I know better. I preach better. I teach people to lean into grace, to walk in joy, to trust God in the mess. But when the mess showed up at my door, I didn’t invite grace in…I slammed the door and sulked.

But God didn’t walk away. He didn’t scold me or shame me. He waited. Patiently. Quietly. Until I was done with my temper tantrum. And when I finally stopped spinning, He reminded me of something simple and sacred: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Even pastors have weak moments. Even leaders lose their footing. But God never loses His grip on us.

So if you’ve had a few days like mine where your attitude didn’t match your calling and your spirit felt foggy, know this: you’re not alone. And you’re not disqualified. You’re just human. And thankfully, grace was made for humans.
